Sprint Cellular at Pine Lodge Avon Photosimulations Sprint Cellular, Avon, Colorado When Sprint decided to expand its cellular telephone service along the I-70 corridor in Colorado, local governments required architectual renderings. Sometimes two views per site were needed. I-70 in Colorado passes through some of the most scenic areas of the Rocky Mountains and the areas most prominent ski resorts. The renderings would be used to assess the visual impact of each new antenna installation. POITRA was chosen to supply the renderings required by for the project. It became clear that Photo-simulation would be a more accurate and realistic instrument for evaluating view impacts. POITRA would now create photo-simulations using base photographs supplied by the Engineer.

POITRA modelers created detailed 3D models of a variety of Antenna types and installation options that would be encountered on the project. Detailed models allowed POITRA to accommodate the occasional close in view when they were needed. The appropriate models were selected and camera matched to base photographs for each site. They were then lighted, rendered and composited to the base photograph and traditional digital painting methods used to finish the simulations. Sprint worked to take advantage of existing corridor structures to gain the height needed to ensure good operation. In the many ski villages along the corridor this meant mounting antennas to a ski lodges. One location at the Pine Lodge in Avon, Colorado allowed panel type antennas to be hidden within building architecture. The submittal package included a mountain view and a driveway view. The finished simulations were used as figures in the submittals to local zoning officials for permitting and to property owners. POITRA provided all final document package graphics.
